A Bizarre story it is! Crocodiles are lethal in rivers, on land and in the air obviously.
By the way: to Englishmen someone from the continent is just someone from the continent. So why bother between Belgium ( where captain Daniel Philemotte came from) and the Netherlands?
perhaps he used old dutch territory, or thinking forward that the dutch part of belgium (assuming he's from that part) is absorb by NL :)
