Language and How We Think

If people learn another language, they inadvertently also learn a new way of looking at the world. When bilingual people switch from one language to another, they start thinking differently, too.

I guess that's right. That is if one really is bilingual; if one catches the subtle humour in both languages/cultures.

Well, just knowing the language doesnt mean we understand the humour in that language. It comes later. It took me a while to like Cabaret or stand up comedian, but now I dont find most Indonesian comedian/presenters' jokes funny.

"When bilingual people switch from one language to another, they start thinking differently, too."
