Network: NL vs ID

Back in Lowland, I was one of the boys. More than 80% of my friends were guys. My office were full of gals except for our two bosses. My friends from one group mostly dont know my other friends from other groups.

Nowadays, there are only 2 gals in our office. My friends are 80% gals. Somehow 6-degrees-of-separation works amongst my friends from different groups.

How did that happen?

Spurred by my arrogance I have one or two answers to your question.

The first is this one.

Watching my two daughters-in-law I observed that even independent and strong ladies like them, breath much easier in a socio-cultural environment where the '68 revolution did happen (NL) in comparison to where it didn't (ID).

I guess you - being a strong and independent lady yourself- are experiencing the take on gender-relations which is characteristic of reli-conservative societies which escaped '68.
