Paradise Lost

I guess I am not the only one who find Bali as paradise lost. Time run this article on what ever wrong about Bali. Not something you want to hear when you live and work in Bali in tourism industry.

Let's hope Balinese government and Indonesian government can tackle the challenge.

Once the Costa Brava ( Spain) was a picturesque and poor region at the sea. Since mass tourism started in the sixties ( that's in the years when I could afford to spend a few weeks there with my girlfriend - in a village with an unforgettable name, PeƱiscola, by the way), it really fast turned into a prospering desert of concrete and noisiness. It may be a pity, but is is irreversible.

I guess Bali's fate will be quite similar.

Hi Triesti,

It is very difficult to expect that a paradise like tourist resort would not change. Especially when most of the 3 million people there rely on tourism.

I hate to think the 'pristine' Bali can only be enjoyed by the wealthy in the resorts.
