On Family
When someone mentioned that his family, all workers, is nothing like mine, I didnt care, I still dont. Yes, I have member(s) of my family who are filthy rich, who are members of the establishment, who are on the magazines and telly. However, I also have members of my family who's been in jail, who was almost OD-ed, who are living below poverty line. I couldnt choose the family I was born into. I have to accept their positives and negatives and be part of it.

You are absolutely right. Boasting having been born with a golden spoon in the mouth is pretty pathetic. Socio-economic status is not the main factor determining a worthy human being. And something to be modest about anyhow, in my opinion.
The one thing that counts is what kind of person we are individually.
The only things we can be proud of are our own personal accomplishments, the way we conduct our lives, rather than socio-economic status - or feel ashamed because of some of our own personal failures.
Both - successes and failures- ultimately are of no business to outsiders, family included. It's not for others to judge - like we can't judge others.
I agree with you that it is more important the kind of person we are than the socio-economic status. Having said that, I have to admit, that our background helps shaping who we are along with our experiences & education.
